CLEAR INFORMATION, BEFORE YOU JOIN
Participant Agreement & Community Rules
For both programmes; especially Supported groups and private chat Last updated 11 October 2026. Practical expectations for a respectful and safer space.
1. Participation is voluntary
You are welcome to take part at your own pace and may pass on personal questions. You are responsible for your healthcare choices. We encourage practical weekly action and honest reflection; there is no requirement to share private recovery history with the group.
2. Respect and confidentiality
Treat others respectfully, including people who are still using, reducing, recently stopped or further into recovery. No humiliation, discrimination, threats, harassment, exploitation, pressuring someone to disclose or unwanted private contact. Do not repeat, screenshot, publish, record or livestream another participant’s words, name, photo, messages or experience without their clear permission and organiser approval. Group confidentiality cannot be guaranteed; share only what you are comfortable having other members see.
3. Safer discussion
Share your personal experiences without giving individual dosing, tapering, withdrawal or prescribing directions. Do not facilitate buying/selling drugs, encourage use or share instructions for unsafe activity. Consider a brief content warning before a particularly graphic account. Addiction2Advocate does not provide medical, counselling or crisis care.
4. Independent versus Supported
Independent is self-directed and includes a shared Discord chat with other Independent members, which Abby checks from 4–5pm UK time Monday–Friday. It does not include scheduled individual calls, weekly live group calls or a private one-to-one message service. Supported includes the personal check-ins, groups and private contact described in the offer you purchased during the 8- or 12-week guided programme. Messages are not monitored 24 hours a day and should not be relied upon for emergencies. Group meetings may be rearranged with reasonable notice. We do not record group sessions or share personal voice notes for promotional purposes without separate advance permission from those affected.
5. Breaks, attendance and moderation
If you cannot attend or are having a difficult week, tell us where practical. A missed week is not automatically a failure. We may remove harmful or promotional material, limit access to a session, or take proportionate action to protect other participants. We aim to explain decisions and consider an opportunity to respond, except where immediate action is necessary. Cancellation and refund rights are not removed by this policy.
6. If you need urgent help
If you or someone else is in immediate danger in the UK, call 999. For urgent non-emergency medical help contact your GP or NHS 111 where available. Samaritans: 116 123. These are independent services, and messages to Addiction2Advocate are not continuously monitored.
7. What you agree to
By joining a paid programme or its community, you agree to these safety and respectful-conduct expectations. You will be given these rules with our Programme Terms, Cancellation & Refund Policy and Privacy Notice. We will ask for explicit agreement to any optional collection of sensitive health information separately.
