CLEAR INFORMATION, BEFORE YOU JOIN

Safety & Support Boundaries

Important information before enrolment Last updated 11 October 2026. Addiction2Advocate is a lived-experience-led educational service.

What we offer

Practical education, self-reflection, real-life exercises, routines, accountability and peer encouragement. People at different stages of addiction and recovery are welcome to enquire. We do not promise a particular treatment result, abstinence or a relapse-free future.

What we do not offer

We are not a medical provider, detox service, emergency response provider, psychological therapy service, prescriber or medical triage service. We cannot diagnose addiction, decide whether you are medically safe to reduce or stop a substance, supervise withdrawal, arrange emergency housing or provide constant crisis monitoring.

Withdrawal and medication warning

Stopping alcohol or benzodiazepines suddenly can be life-threatening. Withdrawal from opioids or other substances and changes to prescribed medicines can also carry serious risks. Do not use programme worksheets as individual clinical instructions, and do not adjust medication or begin a taper based solely on material here. Speak to your GP, pharmacist or drug and alcohol service about your individual situation.

When extra support is needed

If you are severely intoxicated, experiencing dangerous withdrawal, at immediate risk of self-harm or harm to others, or need urgent medical assessment, seek appropriate professional care first. This does not make you unwelcome; it means a peer-led educational service cannot safely replace urgent clinical care.

How to get urgent help in the UK

Emergency/life-threatening: call 999. For urgent but non-emergency health advice: GP or NHS 111 where available. For someone to talk to: Samaritans 116 123. Addiction2Advocate direct messages and community chat are not crisis services or monitored around the clock.

Sharing serious concerns

We take safeguarding concerns seriously. If we reasonably believe someone faces serious immediate harm or that a child or adult at risk may be unsafe, we may encourage emergency or professional help and, where legally justified, pass limited necessary information to an appropriate safeguarding or emergency service. We do not promise absolute confidentiality where legal or safeguarding duties require action.

Group safety and choice

Participants can decline personal questions. Do not pressure anyone to describe substance use or traumatic experiences. No member should give another person dosing or detox instructions. Do not record or publish another member’s disclosures. You can raise a concern privately at hello@addiction2advocate.com.
